Lego-ize me!

Friday, August 31st, 2007

I know, I should be out doing something. But these things are so addictive.

I’m not quite sure why I’m holding a lightsaber. And there was no decent wands for Harry to hold, so instead he gets a stick of giant chalk.

There’s a lot of stuff I want to write about but they’re a lot of small bits and bobs so I’ll just write them all together here as I think of them.

I have a plate of birthday cake next to me here. It is looking at me. I don’t want to eat it because I am full already. Stop looking at me you piece of cake. You don’t even have eyes but you are looking at me!

Leeds Festival 2007

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

My first time at Leeds festival. There were good bits, there were bad bits, there were some amazing and unforgettable bits. But half hour guitar/bass jams after every single song is Boring with a capital B. Mr Frusciante and Mr Flea, please take note.

Despite wearing suncream I still ended up very sunburnt and sore and red, but luckily the weather cooled down slightly towards the end of the weekend. No rain though :) The toilets were gross but what can you expect. I stole Bob’s DSLR on the friday for some photo action… the other days I used my compact, didn’t want to risk bringing the 30D to the festival.

The Living End… or not.

Monday, August 20th, 2007

Was meant to be having a night in Manchester to see The Living End who play in England about once every ten years because they aren’t signed over here and can’t get a record deal over here and thus can’t book shows over here and FINALLY they book some shows this week and I have my tickets all ready and ooh I’m excited and ooh I get the train to Manchester with my dear brother Alan and we walk 2930582935 miles to the Academy venue and ooh. A sign on the door tells us it’s cancelled.

It’s cancelled cos of illness, but rescheduled for Thursday. Oh, so that’s Thursday as in, the day I’m going to Leeds festival. Dammit. They are playing Leeds fest on Saturday but you just know it’ll be about a 10 minute set in a tiny tent. Alan’s seeing them in London tomorrow and he can make Thursday. I can’t :(

But ooh yay I have a visitor tomorrow. You know who it is :P

Gap year stuff

Saturday, August 18th, 2007

I should have been more organised and got my gap year sorted ages ago. I guess it’s easy to say that though, in all honesty I have been looking for months now for something to do during my gap year, I just should have put a bit more effort in.

I wanted to go to France and work there for a year. This would improve my French no end but also give me independence. Plus I want to move away. I just kept putting off sorting myself something out. I applied to Disneyland Paris to work there but got no reply (bastards, hire me!). I just want something to do, I can’t face just staying at home doing nothing for a year.

I’ve been looking into various organisations and schemes and things on the net recently, and have a few info packs about various courses. I’m too late to apply for anything starting this autumn, so I reckon the plan is from now on (well, starting sometime in September) to find a full-time job in town working from now til Xmas, then after the New Year I’ll hopefully go and work abroad. Must apply to these organisations.

I could probably hook up a job in China for the New Year as well, and go teach there like my brother did. But it’s so so so far away. France is nice and close.

I just wish I had something organised.

Holidays in France - summer 2007

Friday, August 17th, 2007

I finally finished sorting my photos from this holiday so I shall write a little entry about it. I don’t want to stretch it out and write each day in detail, I’ll do an overview.

Results time!

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

August 16th 2007. This is the day I get my A-Level results after completing 2 years of Sixth Form at Greenhead College, Huddersfield. To say I was nervous doesn’t really cover it.

Enough trying to make it sound epic. It wasn’t actually that exciting haha. Bob was staying with me for a few days previously and so was coming into college with me today. I think it helped calm me down that he was there. I get stressed in these sort of situations, knowing that basically my future depends on what little letter I have written on my results slip…

I needed ABB grades for my first choice university (Warwick). Did I get them? Fuck yes! I got three 3 As infact! I was pretty surprised to learn I had got an A in Maths, that’s my weakest subject.

T-Shirts with Slogans.

Saturday, August 11th, 2007

I strongly dislike them. I was in Leeds today and was just browsing through H&M and TopShop etc when I’m suddenly faced with a million and one tops all saying ridiculously stupid things like “YOU’RE SO HOT RIGHT NOW” or “ROCK OFF RAVE ON” or “IT’S NOT OVER IT’S NOT OVER IT’S NOT OVER IT’S NOT OVER YEAH!”. Seriously, who would wear these?

Well I believe that question answers itself, as I have seen a great deal many of people actually wearing such tops. And no offence if you happen to own one/be wearing one/absolutely love them. But I think they’re ridiculous. I don’t really want to walk round having people read my chest. It doesn’t seem to me to be very “cool” to wear something that says “NU-WAVE PUNK IS WHERE I WANNA BE”. Trouble is, give it a month or two and these things will be horribly out of fashion, and there’ll be some lovely new sloganised clothing to waste your money on.

In other news, I can’t wait til Monday! But then I’m not looking forward to Thursday. For two reasons :(
