Leeds Festival 2007

August 28th, 2007 by alice

My first time at Leeds festival. There were good bits, there were bad bits, there were some amazing and unforgettable bits. But half hour guitar/bass jams after every single song is Boring with a capital B. Mr Frusciante and Mr Flea, please take note.

Despite wearing suncream I still ended up very sunburnt and sore and red, but luckily the weather cooled down slightly towards the end of the weekend. No rain though :) The toilets were gross but what can you expect. I stole Bob’s DSLR on the friday for some photo action… the other days I used my compact, didn’t want to risk bringing the 30D to the festival.

  • The best band of the weekend were: The Living End
  • But others worth honourable mentions are: Smashing Pumpkins and Arcade Fire
  • I wish I’d seen: We Are Scientists
  • But I wish I hadn’t seen: Panic! At The Disco and Hellogoodbye. Sadly, I preferred Dwarves to these bands.
  • I had never heard of: The Mad Caddies
  • But they turned out pretty good: As did Kids In Glass Houses
  • It was boring to watch: Red Hot Chili Peppers
  • But surprisingly: Kaiser Chiefs put on a good (surprise) show
  • Despite not knowing a single song: Nine Inch Nails were amazing
  • If one band had way too long a set, it was: Red Hot Chili Peppers
  • And others who suffered from too short a set included: The Living End
  • I am definitely glad I went to see: Datarock
  • But I know in future to avoid: Paramore
  • The best headliners were undoubtedly: Smashing Pumpkins
  • And I don’t understand why: The View got a headline slot on the NME Stage
  • Overall, I: fully enjoyed the weekend
  • If only because: I GOT TO SEE THE LIVING END ON MY BIRTHDAY<3

So yeah, that’s the Leeds weekend. Other things I should probably include in this is a reminder/notice that it may be the wisest decision you ever make to decide to leave on the Sunday night after the bands. Unless you like fires and riots and drunken people and fights and , that is.

I also want to apologise to anyone who saw me/was with me over the weekend, because I did not shower for 4 days.

Finally, I would like to add my favourite quote of the weekend. This is during the Arcade Fire’s set:

Random guy behind me #1: Play TUNNELS!!!!!1 PLAY TUNNELS!!! TUNNELLLLS PLAY FUCKING TUNNELS!!!11

Random guy behind me #2: PLAY FUCKING ANYTHING AND I’LL STILL JIZZ OVER IT.
