Happy birthday Inn!

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

Saturday 22nd 2007, two days before her birthday, we decided to have a mini-meet in Leeds for some birthday sushi action. Initially we were going to et a huge sushi platter from Sisushi, as Inn gets a yummy 20% off for being a member. But we couldn’t decide which one to get. Did we go all out and get the Deluxe platter with 70 pieces? Or Sushi Party 2 with 78? There were 4 (possibly 5) of us…

We got to Sisushi about half 2, still unsure of which to get. We were getting it take-out, then driving to Kev’s house to eat it, so we spent ages still deciding. I can’t remember who suggested it, but it came up… why only get one? Why not TWO?

A good point. Lindsay was now going to join in so that made it 5 of us, and if we bought 2 platters the price was little different than buying one. Sooo for £12 each we bought 105 pieces of sushi: Sushi Party 2 platter and Zero-Fish platter. It was amazing!

Practice, practice, practice!

I really really really wish I could play piano. It’s the most amazing instrument and I love how people can just sit down at it, tap the right keys and a beautiful tune comes out. I used to learn when I was younger but I found it hard to do both hands together in sync. I wish I’d stuck with it, or started earlier or something.

But wishing I could play will get me nowhere. Bob taught me the intro to Fur Elise, my favourite piece of music, so I spent a lot of time today perfecting it. It’s only a few bars but I can pretty much do it perfectly now. I know to a pianist this piece is just standard easy to play, but I’m a beginner and I’m proud of me for doing it :)

I’d love to get better and carry on playing. Now my brother has gone back to uni I should be able to use the piano a lot more often. I’ll never be as good as Bob but hopefully I’ll be somewhat decent, someday.

I can now drive! (part 2)

That’s right!

I took my test on September 18th at 13:40. I was dead scared, but luckily I managed to get a nice lady for my examiner who was very chatty and friendly. I got 4 minors overall, and I didn’t have to parallel park! Yay, instead I only had to turn in the road and bay park, the easiest 2 manoevres :)

Why is this song so addictive?

Before a few days (or a week or something) I’d never even heard it before and ever since me and Bob were listening to them on his lovely foobar I’ve had this song drummed in my head, no pun intended.

Updates/photos coming soon. Right now I’m on a treasure hunt. Brb.

Waking up in the middle of the night thinking it’s already time to get up for work, but looking at the clock it’s only half past 3 and you have another 2 and a half hours to zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Jobsuchen ist mir gelungen.

I’m not sure why I felt like writing that in German. But yes I have a job now yay. I went in this afternoon for some introductions and a bit of basic training, and then I start properly on Monday morning! I’m excited!

The job is working for the Halifax at their Dean Clough quarters, where I do admin type work in a team of people. It’s a bit of a fluke how I managed to land myself the job…

Evening out with Ted, Amy and Forrest.

Saturday, September 1st, 2007

It is now September 1st. Happy birthday Amy. She’s incredible. One of these people who you actually wish you were. I met her three and a half years ago when I went to China (this is the point where I dig up a really old and oh so flattering photo of me aged 14 in China…). I don’t see her that often these days, so it was a nice surprise when she turned up on my door today with her friend Forrest. Yes I know what you’re thinking, I also couldn’t get this image out of my head when I met Forrest:
