Happy birthday Inn!

Saturday 22nd 2007, two days before her birthday, we decided to have a mini-meet in Leeds for some birthday sushi action. Initially we were going to et a huge sushi platter from Sisushi, as Inn gets a yummy 20% off for being a member. But we couldn’t decide which one to get. Did we go all out and get the Deluxe platter with 70 pieces? Or Sushi Party 2 with 78? There were 4 (possibly 5) of us…

We got to Sisushi about half 2, still unsure of which to get. We were getting it take-out, then driving to Kev’s house to eat it, so we spent ages still deciding. I can’t remember who suggested it, but it came up… why only get one? Why not TWO?

A good point. Lindsay was now going to join in so that made it 5 of us, and if we bought 2 platters the price was little different than buying one. Sooo for £12 each we bought 105 pieces of sushi: Sushi Party 2 platter and Zero-Fish platter. It was amazing!

We waited about 90 mins for them to be made up, was a Saturday and all so they were already quite busy without having bloody platters to make haha. Inbetween I bought some Japanese green tea for us to drink with our lovely sushi, and Bob and I bought some more Firefly drinks - they’re incredible. We went to Jessops and we tried out the new Canon 40D camera, it was very very yummy. The shop assistant reminded me and Bob of Lupin, and I think he was a bit annoyed cos we took ages with the camera but none of us had any intent (or means) of buying it. But I did see him smile when we were all talking technicalities with the camera - I bet he was thinking “finally! Some customers who know their shit!” Haha :D

Next we popped into Currys Digitial, or Dixons, or whatever it’s called- I always forget. We spotted some Canon 400D caps on the shelves with the 400D itself, and set ourselves a mission of blagging ourselves one. The shop assistant explained we couldn’t just have one, and we’d have to buy a camera or memory card for him to give us one. Boooo. Long story short, we kept pestering him, and discovered the guy next to Bob at the counter was actually buying a 400D… soooo… we persuaded him to get a hat and then give it to us :D And he did!

And that was that. On collection of the sushi we walked back to Inn’s car, carrying the huge platters as if they were sacred (well, in all fairness, they were), and drove up to Kev’s.

As per usual we had our photo-taking session of the food before we actually ate it. I think it’s okay with sushi as it’s already cold, so it’s not like we’re pushed for time to do it quickly. Kev stuck a candle in a salmon nigiri for Inn’s birthday and we got to eating!

The sushi disappeared surprisingly quickly, but I suppose it’s like bite-size pieces and we were all starving. The spicy chicken makis in particular were amazing, so yummy.

About 6 we left the Kev household and drove back into town to meet Gem and Paul for bingo, as well as another random mate of Kevs who turned up. There were 8 of us altogether and we managed to win £50 altogether. It was so frustrating, I didn’t win a single thing, but in one game I was ONE number off a full house, I needed #11, only for someone to grab it before me. Then when the next game started, what number was the first to be called out? Fucking eleven! Dammit.

After the intense bingo action we headed to Carpe Diem, a bar somewhere near Red Chilli (where Bob kept raving on about, and now I know why…) and had a drink, before Bob and I left to get a train back home.
