London time (January 10th - 14th)
Right so I spent last weekend the weekend before last in London with the lovely Bob. I say weekend, it was more of a longgg weekend. I went down on Thursday night, straight after work, and came back Monday daytime. So really, that’s 5 days I got to see him for!
I’m not going to blog out each day as before because it is: a) rather tiresome; and b) not that interesting. Instead I’ll do an overview of what we managed to get up to. Nice and succinct.
Here I am sitting on a stone thing in a pond outside the Barbican.
Alrighty so I met Bob at Kings Cross on Thursday night, about half 8. We went straight back to his house and had some yummy food. That was about that haha. He’d been shopping for some trousers and a shirt for tomorrow…
The next day we woke up about 8 (early :D) to get ready for his uni graduation.
It started about 11am, and we were tube-ing it there, so we set off just after 9 I think, to ensure plenty of time (can’t be late and all). I was wearing a dress (!) to try and look smart, Bob was in a suit (looking very smart), and he would wear his gowns over it once we got to the venue (even more smart!). Was easy to get there, and we had a really good time. Did some photos (both us and the professionals hehe) and thoroughly enjoyed the ceremony.
Afterwards Bob took me to the legendary Hard Wok Cafe! Had a nice late lunch, I now know why he makes the fuss about Hard Wok, it’s yummy! We got a Krispy Kreme as well mmm. Then we headed home to change and stuff, as we were meeting Bob’s friends Jason & Rachel a bit later on for a meal out. We settled on going to Royal China again, partly because it’s amazing, and partly because we felt a celebration duck was in order. You can never go wrong with duck. It is quite possibly my favourite food ever.
(The meal at Royal China gets a whole entry of it’s own to follow, yes, it’s THAT amazing haha.)
On Saturday we had a nice lazy morning. About 3 we headed into Putney to meet up with Bob’s dad, and had a yummy meal at Wagamama. I’d never been there before, kept meaning to though (Wagamama’s that is, not Putney). It was nice, but not overly fantastic to be honest (Wagamama’s that is (though Putney is very nice)). After that Bob and I went on into Central London, as I wanted to visit some places (tourist alert) like Piccadilly Circus. We headed to Covent Garden which was amazing! I’ve only ever been there once before, but this time was better. It was getting dark, so looked all pretty lit up. We saw some street performers: there was one guy balancing trolleys on his chin and walking over a long line of children on his hands (not at the same time); and another juggling whilst on a 10ft tall unicycle, and then juggling with a chainsaw. It was pretty incredible.
We visited the Tintin shop (yay!) where I bought some pretty postcards, then Tescos to buy a drink (as we walked up the 196 or whatever number it is of stairs at the Piccadilly tube stop- tiring!) and a Krispy Kreme mmm. We then found Cyber Candy which was AMAZING. Stocked up on e-numbers and sugar in there with some Lucky Charms, Nerds (I used to love these when I was young, was great to have some again!) and the best thing ever: a Mario Power-Up energy drink! Fuck yes.
Haha right, from there we went on to do a bit of shopping elsewhere. We visited Piccadilly Circus for some touristy photos (wish I had a tripod), and the Apple store (though didn’t buy anything). I bought a new bag in Topshop, and then we went to Chinatown and ended up buying another roast duck haha.
We decided to try Harrods and see if it was open, but alas it wasn’t. Still stood outside and took some photos though hehe.
Then went home and ate duck
Sunday we went for some yummy food again with Bob’s dad, then a quick Nero. Back home we ate more duck and pork and some blueberry cheesecake. We watched Kill Bill which was awesome.
I left on Monday
Went to Bob’s place of work with him as before, then came back to the tube and got myself to Kings Cross. Had a bit of time to spare so I wandered around the station (was raining outside). Train was packed and I had to wait an hour in Halifax for my mum to pick me up.
I was cold and I missed Bob, but I’d had the most fantastic weekend! ![]()
