Update on adventure.
Helloo all!
It’s been a crazy couple of weeks so far on my travels. I passed the 2 week mark yesterday, so I’m officially one quarter of the way through my trip right now! I’m in Belgium at the minute with Nic and really having a fantastic time.
Before that I was in Brussels last weekend (after leaving Cologne in Germany), which was also very good. The weather has been pretty much perfect so far, tiny bit of rain a couple of times this week, but other than that, dry and sunny every day (though sometimes quite cold, but tis still better than rainy!)
Ha took me a while to get used to this Belgian keyboard. All the letters have moved round again from the German one
Brussels was lovely, although the style sometimes a bit odd, I mean for example, half the city is this beautiful old architecture with fantastic buildings, then the other half is modern and boring and ugly. But these 2 styles are built right next to each other! You will find a 16th century Town Hall right next to an office skyscraper, it’s most strange!
Things are going well so far, I have had a couple of minor incidents, one involving the filter on my camera lens breaking (thank god I had that filter!!) and another involving me being the biggets idiot in the world with the train stations in Brussels… yeah… that’s a story for another time, I need to tell people like Bob about all that first. Eee I see him on Thursday this week!
Anyhow, so yeah, it’s been so much fun. Nic & I visisted the Photography Museum in Antwerp, with the Face On portraits exhibition we had a couple of our photos included in. We found 2 of Nic’s photos and one of Inn’s, but alas, mine had already gone: the exhibition is constantly changing and photos get moved around and replaced. Not to worry though, it was still lots of fun.
I’ve been a real tourist so far hehe. Taking lots and lots of photos like the typical tourist, but the Belgian buildings are so beautiful. Nic & I went on a boat ride through the river in Gent like real tourists (hehe) which was actually pretty interesting, and he learned some stuff too, like how Gent has it’s own little Mannekin-Pis (wiki it if you’re interested, I can’t be bothered to explain).
Have sampled the Belgian beers (well, not all 2000+ of them) here as well, and have come to the conclusion that the Kriek cherry beer is very nice indeed. It’s a typical girl’s drink apparently
So yeah, not really sure what else I can say. I miss home a bit, it’s definitely strange to not see family for so long, but with email and texts (though they’re somewhat limited as texting home from abroad is wayyy expensive) it’s easier than ever to keep in contact. I’m seeing Bob in Paris this coming week, eee can’t WAIT! Then it’s on to Germany for some more Deutsch adventures
I’m having the time of my life so far. Ooh and I ate the best spaghetti this side of Italy last week in Gent as well.
Not sure when I’ll be able to post again, so for now, byebye x
