Garden State effect.

Long story short, there was a competition at Clare College, Cambridge to display some photos on the wall in somewhere so my brother entered for me and I won 2 spots on the wall! Here, look!

We had a lovely weekend in Cambridge about which I cannot be bothered to write every tiny little detail (it’s boring anyway). Basically we had a nice day out on Saturday and I met up with Joanne briefly for lunch, and then later on we had champagne, wine and Thai food (in that order) to celebrate Alan being 21. I slept at Ted’s house on the floor and got up dead early as he was going to Bedford at some ridiculous hour (well, 8am, that was my lie-in of the week).

Then we came home and I curled up on the backseat of the car and slept with Okkervil River on repeat in my ears. It was a good weekend.

One year ago I embarked on a photo project which would last the whole year. It’s nothing special or fancy or original: I would simply take a photo every day to ‘represent’ that day (or something) and create an album of (eventually) 365 images.

Last week I completed this. I honestly cannot believe a whole year has gone by already. It’s flown by, it really has. I am so so proud of my achievement and of the collection as a whole. It’s been great fun along the way and I’ve had an amazing time capturing a year of my life in photos. It is at this point where I would like to thank my friends who have supported me so much all the way through this project. In particular, Bob, Nic, and Inn have been there since the very start and have left me countless comments and feedback on my photos. And special thanks to Bob and Inn for featuring in this project a couple of times

I feel a bit better about photography lately. More inspired. More keen to take a lot of time to set up and capture the perfect shot. Even though I deleted most of the ones I did today and my ‘great idea’ didn’t work. But still! I can try again another time.

I need to upload everyday again.

The greatest photographer ever.

And as usual I was taking photos. My friend Sarah who I was with said to me,

“Your life is going to be one big photo collection. That’s amazing.”

And I thought, yes, it is.

Today I decided to have a bit of fun on the wonder that is Photoshop. I use it for all my photo editing, but it’s just the boring stuff all the time, levels, colour, mebbe a bit of curves, hue/saturation etc. Oh and vignetting of course. I wanted to just abuse the amazing features it has… so here we go.

A couple of ideas I’ve wanted to try for a while.

On the left, me and my sisters, and on the right, an idea inspired by Inn:

Voila, now we know what I look like with brown eyes. Though personally I don’t like it.
